Introduction:
“You won't use any letters or numbers in this original puzzle - the only hints are black circles and white circles. Masyu is a puzzle in which you draw a line through the spaces according to the rules. Learn the attributes of the black and white circles and you'll be able to play in no time. The patterns through which lines can be drawn are more numerous than you can imagine, and discovering tactical moves is also fun.” - xbox.com

Masyu is played on a rectangular grid of squares, some of which contain circles; each circle is either "white" (empty) or "black" (filled). The goal is to draw a single continuous non-intersecting loop that properly passes through all circled cells. The loop must "enter" each cell it passes through from the center of one of its four sides and "exit" from a different side; all turns are therefore 90 degrees.

The two varieties of circle have differing requirements for how the loop must pass through them:

  • White circles must be traveled straight through, but the loop must turn in the previous and/or next cell in its path.
  • Black circles must be turned upon, but the loop must travel straight through the next and previous cells in its path.

The rules of this game sound confusing at first but once you understand them, it is rather quite simple. It is highly recommended that you read through the ‘How to Play’ information in the main menu if you want to learn how to play the game without a guide. It explains the rules in detail much better than here.

If you want to practice your skills, the game is available to play online HERE.

Special thanks to The Hidden Levels and Dwaggienite for the 100% video walkthrough.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
There are 50 puzzles in total; 18 Easy, 14 Medium and 18 Hard. With each difficulty, the puzzle grid gets larger. You are free to solve these puzzles in whatever order you wish. If following the video provided, difficulty shouldn’t matter.

At any time in the game, select ‘How to Play’ from the main menu and scroll through all 19 pages to earn Learn the basic rules (100G).

It is highly recommended that you earn Shuffle mania (100G) first before you start working on the ‘clear # boards’ achievements so you aren’t repeating puzzles already cleared unnecessarily. Refer to that achievement for more information.

For the remaining puzzles, follow the video provided in Complete conqueror (100G) and clear them at your leisure. Refer to that achievement for more information on how the game functions.

Conclusion:
Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu is a challenging puzzle game that many may not have heard of. It offers stimulating puzzles at mixed difficulties and is sure to satisfy many puzzle enthusiasts. Some thought and puzzle-solving skills are required if you decide to not use this guide, but of course, if you do choose to use this guide, it will be a relatively easy 1000gs.png. Congratulations!

There are 10 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Read to the last page of the guide.

On the main menu, select ‘Game Start’. Next, select ‘How to play’ and when the next screen appears, use dpad-right.png to scroll through all 19 pages of the instructions. When the achievement unlocks, press button-b.png to return to the previous screen.
  • Total play time exceeds one hour.

Time only accrues while you are in a puzzle, not on the menu. You will unlock this naturally while you are clearing all 50 puzzles.
  • Clear 1 Board.

Refer to Complete conqueror (100G) for more information.
  • Clear 5 Boards.

Refer to Complete conqueror (100G) for more information.

  • Clear 20 Boards.

  • Clear 30 Boards.

Refer to Complete conqueror (100G) for more information.
  • Clear 40 Boards.

Refer to Complete conqueror (100G) for more information.
  • Clear All Boards.

Note: It is recommended that you work on Shuffle mania (100G) first so you don’t repeat puzzles unnecessarily.

To earn this achievement, you need to clear all 50 puzzles in the game. The puzzles are broken up into three difficulties: Easy, Medium and Hard. You can attempt to clear all 50 puzzles on your own (as intended) or you can refer to the video below for all the answers.

By doing Shuffle mania (100G) first, you should have cleared 8-12 puzzles. Navigating around a puzzle with analog-left.png might be cumbersome, but I found that using the D-pad was much easier.

The video below has screenshots of all 50 puzzle solutions. Going one by one, each taking an average of 45 seconds to about 5 minutes to complete, draw the lines as shown in the video and when you’ve finished that puzzle, click analog-left.png to check for mistakes. If everything is correct, you will get a congratulations message. If you happened to make a mistake, it will show you which numbers need to be corrected. Correct anything needed and after the puzzle is cleared, press button-a.png to return to the menu.

If you want to make another menu selection, press button-b.png. Otherwise, select another puzzle and repeat the process until all 50 puzzles have been cleared. Puzzles which have been cleared are identified with a gold ribbon.

Thanks to The Hidden Levels for the video:
  • Shuffle clear 15 times.

Note: It is recommended that you do this achievement first so you don’t repeat puzzles unnecessarily.

On the main menu, select ‘Shuffle’. The game will randomly select one unlocked puzzle for you to solve. Once you’ve successfully cleared it, return to the main menu and select ‘Shuffle’ again and keep repeating until the achievement unlocks. For all puzzle solutions, refer to the video in Complete conqueror (100G).

If you happen to get a puzzle you’ve already cleared, solving it again will still count towards the achievement (but not the clear # boards achievements).
