Introduction:
Welcome to 9 Clues 2: The Ward, another game in the Artifex Mundi catalogue. If you're unfamiliar with their games, they're old school point and click adventure games with a heavy emphasis on puzzles and hidden object scenes. The achievements in this game are markedly easier and simpler than other Artifex Mundi games: you only need to find a third of the collectibles, and there are almost no miscellaneous achievements. You can knock out all the missable stuff in the first half hour or so of the game, leaving just the story to plow through to finish this off, making this a really easy completion. Let's get started.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As with all Artifex Mundi games, there are collectibles. There are actually multiple types of collectibles in this game: question marks, morphing objects, and asylum pieces. However, unlike every other Artifex Mundi game, you don't need to find all of them. In fact, you only need to find three of each.. Like most Artifex Mundi games, there are multiple points of no return. As a result, I highly recommend keeping a collectible guide open while you play through the game (a great one can be found in Broken Memories (60G)). Since you only need to find three of each, once you unlock First Session (60G), Dark Floors (60G), and Broken Memories (60G), you're actually done with collectible achievements in this game and no longer need to follow that guide (the guide has every collectible, just in case you're a true completionist).
Aside from the missable collectible achievements, themiscellaneous missable achievements have been pared down drastically. All you need to do is finish three Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs) without using a hint, finish a minigame without skipping it, and finish a minigame in under a minute. These can all be done in the first half hour of the game. You should unlock Skilled (50G) and Determined (50G) on the first minigame of the game, since it's so short and easy, and with those both unlocked, you can feel free to skip every other minigame in the game if you want, and it won't void any achievements.
For Object Finder (50G), you need to just finish three HOPs without using a hint. Since you can play on Casual, you can mash
through all the HOPs to find all the objects. In general, the HOPs in this game are very easy and should pose no problems. Once you get through three without a hint and unlock Object Finder (50G), you can feel free to use hints as much as you want during HOPs for the rest of the game.
That's it for missable/miscellaneous achievements. The rest of the achievements are story related. The last story achievement you'll unlock is The Forgotten (30G), and it'll be toward the end fo the game, before you beat it. Once you unlock that achievement, you should have everything else, and that'll wrap up this very easy completion.
Conclusion:
This is by far the easiest Artifex Mundi achievement list to date. All of the missable stuff can be knocked out in the first half hour, and the story doesn't even need to be completed to unlock all story achievements. The game itself is just above average, since it does have some cool horror aspects to it. Congrats on yet another completion!
